GROW

Growing Restoration Opportunities with Wildflowers

Collect local. Grow native. Give back.

G.R.O.W. is a hands-on native seed stewardship program that connects people with the native plants growing right here in our community. Throughout the fall, participants visit established native plantings around Kosciusko County to learn how to identify native species and responsibly collect mature seed.

Each collection day focuses on different native wildflowers and grasses as they become ready for harvest. Participants can learn at their own pace, and no previous plant or seed-collecting experience is needed. Whether you’re already a native plant enthusiast or just getting started, GROW is an opportunity to learn by doing.

Seeds collected through GROW help support local conservation efforts while also giving participants the knowledge and experience to establish native plants of their own. Participants may also have opportunities to take home small amounts of seed from selected species.

Why GROW?

Native plants provide food and habitat for pollinators and wildlife, improve soil health, help manage stormwater, and add diversity to our landscape. By collecting seed from established local plantings, GROW helps turn existing conservation projects into a resource for creating even more native habitat.

Most importantly, GROW is about building a community of people who know how to identify, collect, grow, and share native plants.
