26 Jan Roberts Named 2017 State Supervisor of the Year

Kosciusko County SWCD always knew that they had an effective supervisor in Jon Roberts. Apparently, the State of Indiana thinks so, too. Recently, at the Annual Conference of the Indiana Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts (IASWCD), Roberts was awarded Indiana’s Supervisor of the Year Award.
This award is designed to recognize outstanding and exemplary SWCD supervisor achievements and leadership in the protection and enhancement of Indiana’s soil and water resources. Nominees must be a current District supervisor serving on a local Indiana Soil and Water Conservation District Board to be eligible for this award that is sponsored by Indiana Prairie Farmer.
After serving the local SWCD as an associate supervisor, Roberts was elected to the board as a supervisor in 1992. He is well respected for his knowledge, interpretation of information and ability to articulate his thoughts with great diplomacy. These skills have led him to represent SWCD on a variety of local, watershed-scale and state committees and advisory boards. He has also held leadership roles on the state IASWCD board.
Roberts has also implemented many conservation projects in his farm operation, making him an effective mentor for others wanting to adopt practices to protect natural resources.
Kosciusko SWCD gives a hearty congratulations to Jon Roberts, Indiana’s State Supervisor of the Year!
