Lake and River Enhancement Program (LARE)
The Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Division of Fish & Wildlife offers the Lake and River Enhancement Program. The LARE grant provides cost share assistance for Lake Diagnostic Studies, aquatic invasive vegetation; 2 stage ditches, sediment removal, stream bank protection etc. Earlier this year, the Indiana General Assembly passed, and Gov. Daniels signed HEA 1343 amending the types of issues the Lake and River Enhancement (LARE) Program deals with. In addition to the preious focus areas the new legislation added logjam removal in rivers as a focus for funding.
The deadline for all 2014 LARE applications is January 31, 2014. Since the amount of available funds was not increased, the competition for limited funds will be greater than ever.
